Tailwheel

Flying a tailwheel requires a pilot to develop superior stick-and-rudder skills, especially during takeoff and landing phases. This is because tailwheel aircraft tend to be much less forgiving than nose-wheel aircraft with substandard technique. Enjoy the nostalgia of how flight originated with this rating! Requirements:

  • Any age for instruction. 16 to solo and earn the endorsement.
  • Be able to read, write, and converse fluently in English.
  • Obtain an approved FAA medical certificate.
